On April 9, Rethinking Climate reunited with activists, experts, and interested parties to discuss the effects of climate change in Tanzania. From the final workshop, we drafted a short report.
Tanzania is currently facing major issues regarding climate change and how it is affecting Lake Tanganyika and the communities that live around it and rely on it. Some of the challenges facing the Lake and its communities would be rising water levels and the failed oil drilling which heavily impacted finishing, land-use, and agriculture. This lake is key to the development of the SDGs (listed above) in Tanzania, we plan on including in the conversation local officials and activists and their reasoning on why there has not been enough action taken and what are the next steps.
